Terms of Service
Introduction
Last updated: 2026-10-21. These terms cover the LightBites apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac and the LightBites website, made by Elias Ruiz Monserrat (“we”, “us”). By installing or using LightBites you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use it.
Short version: LightBites is a tool for your own photos. Your photos stay yours, we never claim any right in them, and the app is provided as it is, with no promise that it is free of mistakes. Be careful with originals you cannot replace.
The app and its licence
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use LightBites on devices you own or control, for your own photos and for lawful purposes. You may not copy it, resell it, reverse engineer it except where the law lets you, or remove its notices.
The app is distributed through Apple’s App Store (and TestFlight for betas), and Apple’s standard licensed application end user licence agreement applies to that distribution together with these terms. If the two conflict, Apple’s terms win for matters they cover. The Mac app is also distributed from this website.
Purchases
LightBites is free to download, and editing and your library are free. Exporting and sharing photos, Save to Photos, Edit In, contact sheets and dragging photos into other apps need LightBites Pro, a one-time purchase (not a subscription). A free 7-day trial comes first; nothing is charged when it ends.
- In the App Store (iPhone, iPad, and the Mac App Store), LightBites Pro is an in-app purchase. Apple takes the payment, and Apple’s terms cover it, including refunds (reportaproblem.apple.com) and restoring it on your other devices with the same Apple Account.
- On this website, the Mac app’s LightBites Pro is sold by our reseller Lemon Squeezy, the merchant of record, whose buyer terms cover the payment, taxes and refunds. You receive a licence key for your own Macs, up to the number of activations the order states. Keep it to yourself: it is not to be shared or resold. A refunded or charged-back order’s key stops working.
The two are separate purchases: a licence key does not unlock the App Store app, and an App Store purchase does not unlock the Mac app from this website.
LightBites is under active development. Features change, and beta builds may be incomplete or unstable.
Your photos
Your photos, edits and the data in your library belong to you. We do not receive them, we claim no licence to them, and you are responsible for having the right to use the photos you edit.
LightBites edits are non-destructive: it stores your adjustments next to the original rather than changing the original file. Even so, keep backups. Importing, exporting, syncing, deleting, moving or restoring photos can go wrong because of a bug, a full disk, a crash or a mistake, and we are not responsible for photos or edits that are lost or damaged.
Do not use LightBites for anything unlawful, including photos you have no right to handle, or to harm or harass anyone.
Sync servers and other services you choose
Syncing between your devices is optional and needs a server you run yourself or one run by someone you trust. We do not run, operate or see any sync server, and we are not responsible for what a server’s owner does with the data you send to it.
Some features download AI models or map tiles from third parties (for example Hugging Face, GitHub or OpenStreetMap), and Generative Expand can use Apple Image Playground on supported systems. Those models and services have their own licences and terms, which you accept when you download or use them, and the results of any AI feature can be wrong or unexpected. What the app sends over the internet is listed in the Privacy Policy.
Support and feedback
You can write to us from Help & Feedback in the app or from the website’s support, feedback and changelog pages. What you post on the public feedback board is visible to everyone. Do not post anything unlawful or abusive, anyone’s personal data, or content you do not have the right to share. We may remove posts and comments, and we may use the ideas you suggest without owing you anything. We try to answer, but we do not promise a reply time or that any request will be built.
Updates and changes
We may update LightBites, change or remove features, and update these terms. The date at the top shows the last change. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the new terms; for a material change we will say so in the app’s What’s New.
No warranty
To the extent the law allows, LightBites and this website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of colour or rendering, and that it will be uninterrupted or error free.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost photos, edits, data or profits, arising from your use of LightBites. Where the law does not allow a limit, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and the consumer-protection rights you have where you live still apply.
Ending
You can stop using LightBites at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end your access to our support services if you break these terms.
